Hi there, I’m Whitney.
I am the founder, designer, and creator of all things behind Cottage & Cove Design Co. I am inspired by the world around me. The ocean, the trees, plants, nature, the rolling hills of the countryside. These things are all a reflection of my design style and what makes Cottage & Cove able to go round and round. Most days you can find me at home cozied up with my family in our cottage in the woods in the beautiful state of Alaska.
I am not the most professional person out there. I don’t know everything there is to know about interior design. What I do know is that I love interacting with others and for some reason that only He knows, God gave me a passion for home design that is endless. One of my favorite things to do is to help someone problem solve in a space in their home that they are stuck on. It is a fun puzzle for me that I find truly rewarding in the end. What feels like home to you, might not feel like home to me, and vice versa. We all have different comforts. My ultimate goal is that at the end of a design process, you feel not only comfortable in your home, but that it is your favorite place to be.
This website is the most organized space that I have. There are two points to that statement. One is the fact that we are currently building our dream home in Alaska… while living in it with our 3 children during the process. Need I say more? Point two, I suffer from too many ideas syndrome. It isn’t that I get bored of an idea or a project that I am working on. It is that I have a lot of things that inspire me and I don’t always know which direction to take next. If you could see inside my brain, it would not have organized compartments with everything neat and tidy. If you read my blog, you can expect it to be a place where I share ideas, creativity, house projects, DIY, and anything home-related. I like to look at it as a place for my brain dump. If you don’t already do this, I highly recommend it if your brain often travels from one thing to the next and then you find yourself paralyzed not doing anything because you have all the options and decisions in your head swarming at once. Think of it like a to-do list. Sometimes things get crossed off, sometimes you just need to write it down to get it out of your head to move on to the next thing.
I don’t know what I would call my job. Am I an interior designer? I would LOVE to say that I am. On most days if I called myself that I would feel like a fraud. The truth is, I am just a girl who loves to design my home and help others in theirs. I didn’t go to school for this. I don’t have all the knowledge. Cottage & Cove has one thing that backs this business, passion. You will see that in the art that I create, the photography that I share, the designs I create, and the stories that I share.
This is a place where I share my passion for interiors. Your home has a story to tell. My goal is to help you let your story shine. Let’s get creative!
